Takayuki Tanaka (田中貴之, Tanaka Takayuki), known professionally as Tony Taka, is a pornographic illustrator who became the prevailing character artist for the latter part of the Shining series. He has provided character design for Shining Tears, Shining Wind, Shining Hearts, Shining Blade, Shining Ark, and Shining Resonance.

Games released during this period that carried the Shining Force name continued to feature character and monster designs from other artists, including series veteran Yoshitaka Tamaki and newcomer pako.

Tony has had a close working relationship with then Shining series producer Tsuyoshi Sawada, whose involvement with the series also began with Shining Tears. Together, they have brought characters from that segment of the Shining series to the collectible figurine market with sexually provocative sculpts.[1] This type of merchandise has featured prominently in Sega's marketing of the Shining series in Japan.[2]

Although Tony has celebrated 1998 as the beginning of his career as a commercial illustrator, he has confirmed that his work in game art began at Data East with Street Slam in 1994.[3]
