Camelot Software Planning
Camelot, Co., Ltd. (株式会社キャメロット, Kabushiki Gaisha Kyamerotto, "Camelot Share Company"), branded Camelot Software Planning, is an independent game development studio registered April 4, 1994, by Shugo Takahashi as its president and representative director. Camelot's current representative is Hiroyuki Takahashi.[1][2]
Games Developed
Camelot's first credited title is Shining Wisdom, on which they collaborated with Sonic. In between its independent projects, Camelot would also work with Sonic on the development of Shining the Holy Ark. When Sega merged their investment in Sonic into Nextech between 1997 and 1998,[3][4][5] Camelot became the lead development studio for Shining Force III.
Camelot's independence from Sega allowed them to develop software for other platforms, starting with Beyond the Beyond, published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation in 1995. Camelot would proceed to develop Everybody's Golf as a PlayStation release, as well as sports titles with the Mario brand for Nintendo platforms. Camelot returned to developing role-playing games with the Golden Sun series for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS in the first decade of the 2000s.
