Guardiana (ガーディアナ国, Gādiana Koku, "Country [of] Guardiana") is a kingdom located at the southwestern end of the Western Continent of Rune.

The story of the first Shining Force begins in Guardiana.

History

As one would expect from a country of knights, there is a high ratio of centaurs. And compared to other countries, the ratio of elves is low. Is the reason for this that mages and archers aren't emphasized here?

What Is the Full Story of the Country of Wandering Knights? (迷走する騎士の国のてんまつは?)

A small country on the southernmost tip of the Western Continent. It was founded about 800 years ago by a large-scale migration of members of the knight class [TL Note: "knight class" as in the social class] from Prompt for the purpose of protecting the Ancient Castle Gate. During King Arisōto von Guardiana II's reign, a horde of wyverns attacked and the resulting fire caused the loss of many records. There are no records from the time of the founding of Guardiana or from before.

西大陸の南端部に位置する小国。およそ800年前に古えの城門警備の目的で、プロンプトから騎士階級を中心とした大規模な移民が行なわれ建国された。アリスソート・ヴォン・ガーデ ディアナⅡ世王の治世にワイバーンの大群が襲来し、その際の大火で多くの記録が消失、建国当時、あるいはそれ以前の記録は存在しない。

Their primary industry is agriculture. They have settled the Beaune River Delta (source at Maar Lake southeast of Manarina) where they engage in intensive agriculture. Their local specialty, the Guardiana carrot, originates from here, as well as many of their other agricultural products, and they are able to fundamentally meet 100 percent of their domestic needs self sufficiently. There is also a small fishing industry located near the coastal waters of the Monostone Peninsula, and in this region there is an established lifestyle of half-fishing / half-farming. Because most of the country's land comprises plains, it is lacking mineral resources and its manufacturing industry has been slow to start. Right now, because they do not have any noteworthy goods to export, trade with other countries has not developed. You could say that self-sufficient agriculture is the lifeblood of the Guardiana economy.

主な産業は農業。ボーヌ川(マナリナ南東のマール湖を源流とする)の肥沃な三角州に集約農 業が定着した。特産物の“ガーディアナ人参”を始め、多品種の農作物を産出、基本的に国内需要100パーセントの自給自足が成立している。また小規模だが、モノストーン半島の近海では 漁業も行なわれており、この地域では半農半漁の生活が営まれている。国土の大半を平野部が 占めるため、鉱物資源は乏しく、工業の発展も立ち後れている。現在のところ、これといった 輸出品目を持たないため、他国との貿易は発展していない。自立型農業がガーディアナ経済の生命線と言えるだろう。

Historically, the founders were from the knight class, so it can be seen that respect for martial arts is a national trait. Having said that, however, they are not needlessly belligerent and have high educational standards. Their culture has developed its own chivalric spirit and is permeated by a philosophy of valuing both literature and martial arts.

歴史的に騎士階級を建国の祖に持つため、武芸を尊ぶ国民性が見受けられる。かといっていたずらに好戦的なわけではなく、教育水準も比較的高い。文化的にも独自の騎士道精神を継承しており、「文武両道」の生活信条が浸透している。

Semi-annual martial arts tournaments are held during the harvest season that both knights and townsfolk regularly train to compete in, and large festivals are held within the castle walls and spanning throughout the city. It can be said that this is the most remarkable expression of Guardiana's culture.

半年に一度収穫期に開催される「武芸トーナメント」では、騎士も市民も日頃鍛えた武芸を競い、城内から市街地まで盛大な祭典がとり行なわれる。ガーディアナ文化の最も顕著な発露といえよう。

Guardiana's Duty

According to Nova, Guardiana has the duty of protecting the sealed Legacy of the Gods.

Located on the continent of Rune, beyond its shut gate is sealed the Legacy of the Gods. The Kingdom of Guardiana was tasked with protecting that Legacy. This is our ultimate duty.

Guardiana's Treasure

Guardiana Castle houses an Ancient artifact that Kane steals during Runefaust's invasion. Most citizens of Guardiana do not know the true nature of the treasure, including the guards protecting it.

In Chapter 2, Princess Anri of Guardiana reveals when Max meets her in Manarina that the stolen treasure is the Sword of Light.

Country of Guardiana (ガーディアナ国)

The country that boasts the oldest history on the Western Continent. According to legend, this country was founded as the rightful heir of the mission to protect the Legacy of the Gods. For this reason, they have a tradition of valuing the trait of "valor", and at the castle you will not see decorations or luxurious crafts, for the royal family of Guardiana believes in living a modest life. However, the long peaceful life has weathered away this tradition and if Runefaust's ambition cannot be hindered, they will be destroyed . . .

西大陸では最古の歴史を誇る国である。言い伝えではこの国は、「神々の遺産」を守護する使命をもつ正当な継承者として建国されたという。そのため "武” を尊ぶ気風が伝統となっており、ガーディアナの王族たちも質素な生活が信条で、城の装飾品やぜいたくな作りは見受けられない。しかし長い平和な生活が部族たる伝統を風化させてしまい、ルーンファーストの野望を阻止できずに滅んでしまう･･････。

Because the country is so small in scale, stocks of weapons are few, but the land is so fertile they are blessed with an abundance of produce. It seems likely that the story of Shining Force will begin in this country.

規模の小さな国なので武器などの蓄えは少ないが、肥沃な土地に恵まれ農作物は豊富だ。 どうやら「シャイニング・フォース」の物語はこの国の近辺から始まるようだ。
