Gadfort

Gadfort (ガドフォール, Gadofōru) is a character from Shining Force EXA. He is a former knight of the Noswald Empire who chose to leave in order to search for the holy sword, Shining Force. He is motivated by furthering his training as a knight so that he may uphold his ideals and believes that being chosen by Shining Force would be the greatest honor.

Design Work

I drew a bag behind him because he carries the baggage. (laughs) I had a clear image in mind in regard to him holding a bag: "It would be funny if while he was in the party they made him hold the baggage." I was thinking of a charging character, so I kept the silhouette of a wedge shape in mind.

後ろに鞄を描いた理由は、コイツが荷物持ちだから(笑)。「パーティの中で、無理やり荷物を持たされている感じだったらおもしろい」という理由で鞄をつけたことを鮮明に覚えています。突進するキャラクターというイメージがあったので、くさび形のシルエットを意識しています。

Concept Work

He's a veteran centaur knight, exactly as Hino ordered. Early on, the rough idea was for him to wear a horse-shaped helmet, and when his visor was up you'd see the face of a knight! But pako said, "Hey, if you see him from a distance, isn't he just an ordinary horse!" and it seems he personally rejected the idea.

老練なケンタウロスの騎士、という火野さんのオーダーそのままのキャラクターです。最初のころには、馬の形のカブトをかぶっていて、はねあげると中から騎士の顔が！というラフもあったのですが、「これ、遠くから見たらただの馬じゃん!」とpakoさんみずからボツにしたようです。
