Tao (タオ, Tao) is an elf wizard in Shining Force. She is among the first people to join Max's company in Guardiana before the investigation at the Ancient Gate.

JP	私はまどうしのタオ　まだ　べんきょうちゅうですけど　いっしょうけんめい　がんばります
TL	I’m the wizard Tao. I’m still not through with my studies yet, but I’ll try as hard as I can to hang in there.

JP	・・ブツブツ・・まぼろしのまほう?・・わからない・・どこにある?・・わからない・・わかりたい
TL	. . . (Grumble.) . . . Illusion magic? . . . I don’t understand . . . Where is it? . . . I don’t understand . . . I want to understand.

JP	私　力のつづくかぎり　がんばって戦います・・・あなたのおやくに　たちたいんです!
TL	As long as my power continues to last, I'm going to do my best in battle . . . I want to be helpful for you!

JP	これが　ふねなんですね・・・私　いちどでいいから　のってみたかったんです
TL	So, this is a ship . . . I’ve always wanted to ride one, just once.

History

Shining Force: Legacy of the Gods

Prior to the beginning of the game's story, Tao was a maid at Guardiana Castle who showed a prowess for magic. She eventually studied magic with Anri at Manarina and became the castle's wizard.

After the king of Guardiana requests Max to investigate the happenings at the Ancient Gate, Tao is one of the five individuals asked by the king to accompany him.
