Rippana
They did it againǃ |

Rippana (立派な, りっぱな, adj. "top-class", n. rippa, adv. rippani) is a word that writers use when they are at a loss for words. It is used to describe anything positive in the superlative sense. Like a cup of coffee for an author with writer's block and an unfulfillable deadline, its application is most effective without moderation.
This usage was innovated by the writing staff for Shining Force. Although it is not certain which writer in particular is at fault for this exceptional shortfall in creativity, it is likely one or more of the of four people credited for the game's scriptː Masaki Wachi, Kenji Orimo, Haruki Kodera, and Hiroyuki Takahashi.
Examples of Abuse
The overuse of rippana has led to much heartache and cracking of the spines of thesauri on the part of the Shining Force translation hack's editor. Disbelieving voices are frequently raised in exasperation at the repeated sight of the word.
Rippana transcends age, class, and education and is uttered enthusiastically by kings, Ancients, drunks, and toddlers alike.[1]
